Line Cook

Line Cook (Full Time, Permanent)

Are you looking for a more balanced life? Our cooks are done work by 7 pm every day and generally have every other weekend off. We offer a great benefit package for qualifying employees and have a team of people who are great to work with!

Martindale Place is a unique Senior’s Community where Christian values are lived and excellent housing is provided. It’s a safe and friendly environment, which allows seniors to sustain their independent life-style without the worries and costs of maintaining a home.

Overview:

The Line Cook is accountable to the Head Chef and Sous Chef and assists with all aspects of the dining experience for the residents of Martindale Place, striving to regularly exceed the expectations of the residents and supporting the Head Chef with the daily operations of the kitchen.

Major Responsibilities:

· Prepare high quality food that regularly exceeds expectations;

· Contribute to a high level of customer service in all aspects of the residents dining experience;

· Support the Head Chef and kitchen team by performing bulk prep duties;

· Accommodate residents who may have health related restrictions;

· Strive to prepare food with attention to detail;

· Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment;

Qualifications:

Genuine enjoyment and heart for serving seniors;
Degree or diploma from a culinary program preferred;
One year of culinary experience preferred;
Strong attention to detail and quality;
Food handlers permit;

Current (within 6 months) original and acceptable Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screen

I am so glad and grateful that I can live at Martindale Place! I have made such good friends here. During COVID, it was wonderful to get some exercise on the balcony while being led by Monica from the church yard outside our apartments. When we were isolated in our rooms, we all had assigned buddies. My buddy and me, we are still such great friends and that has turned out to be one of the best experiences I’ve had at Martindale Place. The staff are so responsive for a big variety of needs; I feel so well cared for.

The residents are just the best and the reason it’s been my favourite job ever. It’s also great having a ‘work family’ which is something I didn’t have previously.
