Life Enrichment Aide – Driver
Job Title: Driver (Part-Time, Permanent)
Martindale Place is a unique senior’s community where Christian values are central to our mission, and we provide exceptional housing in a safe, welcoming environment. Our goal is to support seniors in maintaining an independent lifestyle, free from the concerns of home maintenance. We’re seeking team members who are passionate about serving seniors in a faith-based setting and committed to providing excellent service.
Position Overview:
The Life Enrichment Aide – Driver supports the Life Enrichment Coordinator in planning and implementing engaging programs for residents. This role is also responsible for providing safe, courteous transportation for residents, ensuring they arrive at medical, social, and other destinations safely and comfortably.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in delivering a variety of programs and special events for residents.
- Create documents and posters to advertise programs and events.
- Drive residents to scheduled destinations, including medical appointments and social events.
- Assist residents in and out of the vehicle safely.
- Maintain a clean driving record and practice safe driving techniques at all times.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide basic First Aid if necessary.
Qualifications:
- Genuine passion for serving seniors.
- Degree/diploma in Therapeutic Recreation, Activation, Leisure Studies, or a related field.
- Experience in geriatric programming within a related setting.
- At least 5 years of driving experience and knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to operate an 8-passenger vehicle, use tire-changing equipment, and handle a First Aid kit.
- Valid G-class driver’s license and a recent driver’s abstract.
- Completion of a vulnerable sector screening within the last 6 months.
- Physically able to meet the job demands, including lifting up to 20 lbs, pushing, walking, and bending.
- Fluent in spoken and written English (additional languages are an asset).
- Proficiency in Word, Publisher, Excel, and Internet use.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
