About Martindale Place

Located in St. Catharines, Martindale Place is a unique community for seniors where Christian values and excellence are celebrated. We provide housing and services to approximately 250 seniors that live in 5 different building areas all on the same campus. We have three main types of housing including Life Lease, rental and rental with enhanced services. The enhanced services include three daily chef prepared meals, weekly housekeeping, flat linen service, a full activity program and assistance with transportation.

About the Board

Our Board members are passionate about serving seniors. They are invested in providing affordable housing without compromising quality. They lend specific expertise to the governance of the organization through their professional knowledge and experiences. They profess a saving faith in Jesus Christ and provide spiritual leadership in the governance of the organization.

The Board of Directors consists of 7-9 members with a diverse mix of experienced business and industry professionals. The Board’s work is supported by specialized committees in the areas of Finance, Fund Raising, Resident Assistance, Governance and Capital Planning. The Board of Directors is the legal authority for 60 Plus (St Catharines) Residences Inc. (O/A Martindale Place) As a member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization.

Board meetings are held monthly and there are yearly strategic planning sessions. Members of our Board serve as volunteers to advance Martindale Place’s mission, vision and values. As a Board Director, you would be expected to prepare for, attend and conscientiously participate in Board meetings and participate fully in one or more committees.

The Martindale Place Board is currently seeking individuals to join our Board of Directors and is inviting applications with one or more of the following qualifications:

  • Experience with not-for-profit organizations
  • Previous Board Experience
  • Competency in one or more of the following areas: 
    • organizational management
    • financial management
    • policy development
    • strategic planning
    • government relations/advocacy
    • fundraising
    • marketing/public relations
    • human resources
    • legal experience
    • senior’s care

The Governance and Human Resources Committee will review submissions and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for interview. The nomination process is conducted in strict confidentiality.
