It’s a safe and friendly environment, which allows seniors to sustain their independent life-style without the worries and costs of maintaining a home.  Our campus is growing and we are looking for people to join our team who are passionate about providing exceptional service to seniors.

Overview:

The Cook is accountable to the Head Chef and assists with all aspects of the dining experience for the residents of Martindale Place, striving to regularly exceed the expectations of the residents and supporting the Head Chef with the daily operations of the kitchen. 

 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare high quality food that regularly exceeds expectations;
  • Promote a high level of customer service in all aspects of the residents dining experience;
  • Provide creative ways to make mealtimes unique and memorable;
  • Strive to surprise and delight our residents with their favourite meals;
  • Accommodate residents who may have health related restrictions;
  • Strive to prepare food with attention to detail maintaining a clean and healthy environment for staff and residents alike;
  • Ensure that all food is received, stored and prepared according to appropriate standards;

Qualifications:

  • Genuine enjoyment and heart for serving seniors;
  • Degree or diploma from a culinary program preferred;
  • Two or more years culinary experience in the hospitality industry with increasing responsibilities;
  • Strong attention to detail and quality;
  • Food handlers permit;
  • As an experienced professional, you will demonstrate the ability to show initiative, innovation, the ability to work independently and possess excellent communication skills;
  • You are a team player with developing leadership, team building skills and well-developed customer service skills.
  • Current (within 6 months) original and acceptable Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screen

Culinary Aid

Culinary Aid (Part Time, Permanent) (34 hrs biweekly)

Overview:

The Culinary Aid reports to the Head Chef and will partner with all our culinary staff to assist with all aspects of the dining service.  He or she will also be responsible for the dish washing area and the cleanliness of the kitchen. In addition, he or she shall assist with serving residents during dining service.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with Dining Room service when needed, e.g., pouring beverages, delivering food, taking orders.
  • Assist with cleaning of kitchen and kitchen equipment.
  • Set up and run the dish washing operation, keeping the dishwasher clean and free of debris. Clean pots and pans as needed.
  • Clean the kitchen area, including floors, as needed.
  • Stock food on shelves and in refrigerator.
  • Report to supervisor any problems in the kitchen or dining room.
  • Promote a high level of customer service in all aspects of the residents dining experience;
  • Provide creative ways to make mealtimes unique and memorable;
  • Strive to surprise and delight our residents
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and quality.
  • Anticipate residents service needs by actively listening and responding positively to residents’ questions, concerns and requests in an effort to resolve issues, delight and build trust.

Qualifications:

  • You are a team player with developing leadership, team building skills and customer service skills.

Server

Part Time

Overview:

Servers are accountable to the Head Server and Head Chef and assists with all aspects of the dining experience for the residents of Martindale Place, striving to regularly exceed the expectations of the residents and supporting the Head Chef, Culinary Staff and Fellow Serving Staff with the daily operations of the Dining Room. 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Promote and Execute Hospitality Services that regularly exceeds expectations;
  • Promote a high level of customer service in all aspects of the residents dining experience;
  • Provide creative ways to make mealtimes unique and memorable;
  • Strive to surprise and delight our residents
  • Consult with chef/sous chef regularly for continued food and service improvements;
  • Accommodate residents who may have health related restrictions;
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and quality.
  • Ensure tables are ready for residents and guests to arrive
  • Be aware of special requests, inclusive of dietary restrictions, allergies and food intolerance.
  • Anticipate residents service needs by actively listening and responding positively to residents’ questions, concerns and requests in an effort to resolve issues, delight and build trust.

 Qualifications:

  • Genuine enjoyment and heart for serving seniors;
  • Strong attention to detail and quality;
  • Food Handlers & Smart Serve permits are beneficial;
  • Demonstrate the ability to show initiative, innovation, the ability to work independently and possess excellent communication skills;
  • A team player with developing leadership, team building skills and well-developed customer service skills.
